Well I am sure the title shocked you, especially under the "Career" category. But no, I do not pay for sex but others do. As a career this is an actual occupation. Should it be?

I Pay For Sex

"Prostitution law varies widely from country to country, and between jurisdictions within a country. Prostitution is legal in some parts of the world and regarded as a profession, while in other parts it is a crime punishable by death." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitution_law

Yikes, punishable by death? That's a bit extreme!

United States (no federal law, but illegal in all states except Nevada, where some rural counties license brothels, see Prostitution in the United States).

Oh I almost forgot to tell you guys, I do not pay for sex haha, just used that as a title for an attention getter. Fact of the matter is however that when I was 17 years old in the Navy I did go to Tijuana Mexico once with a friend, got shnockered drunk and did pay for sex once... not my thing.

The topic of this post is really to discuss whether or not you feel that prostitution should be made legal? I have heard this quote a thousand times "It is the oldest profession on earth".

I did a post before about if drugs should be legal and it pretty much follows the same principles, I believe there would be less crime, less sexually transmitted diseases and less abuse to women and yes I know that some feel that paying a woman for sex is in itself a form of abuse which is debatable in my opinion.

A little me background - I am from Las Vegas and have been engaged in bringing tourists to see women for sex in the past, whether it was from an escort agency or a woman whose number I kept on me for if a man wanted company all the way down to underground Chinese brothels in apartment complexes. Within the city limits in Las Vegas it is illegal but if you go outside the city limits it is not.

So what if it was taken off the streets and they had to follow all the business regulations and health regulations that a legal brothel such as "The Chicken Ranch", "The Bunny Ranch" or the "Mustang Ranch" is subject to including taxes?

On a moral level I think it is wrong (bit hypocritical of me I know) but honestly I think its between the individuals involved and God.

Do you have any feelings on this?

This is a huge issue for sure. I think it should be legal but with certain rules, such as age and health checks as well as being taxed like any other professions. It should be in safe places - not in the streets - where there are no "pimps" that abuse the girls. Condoms would be required for everyone's protection.

Whether this kind of business become legal or not, some people would still flock to them. why? To seek fun, companionship, acceptance, feed their ego.....You are right, it is the matter of one's choice if the people would remain faithful to their partners or not and if they would choose to live according to what their religion teaches them.

@Mark Gordon Brown I totally agree. Makes it safer, eliminates a massive crime aspect to it as well.

It is better to pay for sex because then it is more difficult for people to blackmail you. This young guy was living in a hotel when he went outstation to work. One night an unknown lady brought a pot of tea and two cups and wanted to enter his room to serve him. He said he didn't order the tea and told her to leave. She did.

Its more about morals and chastity and in the old days it was a status symbol with a play thing attached. Just like the Geishas in Japan who are revered for their intellectual contribution for their male client who can even sleep with them. Their traditional symbol was face paint which was lead based.
With regard to prostitutes of the modern time, they do it all for money as it is the easiest profession to earn money and as long as men exist and letch the trade shall take place.
Well in the modern era woman let go of their morals in the name of dating which can be classified as prostitution for food and drink before moving to the next male counterpart saying the other didn't treat me well.
I am personally a one man girl and detest such behaviourisms although I do tolerate the regular male overtures around.
Men who pay for sex are the ones of disrepute as they lack the respect for a female and honestly, if a woman is prostituting, she will never teach the discipline to her offspring but on the contrary catapult them all into flesh trade unless it is an act of coercion from the opposite sex which can be then classified as rape.
Not my cup of tea.....

It is hard to say if it should be legalized. It is wrong to sleep with someone you are not married to. Maybe just as Marijuana should be legalized and taxed, so should prostitution be for the reasons you stated. People want it. It would prevent pimps from getting the money and abusing the whores.
