Finding your value

One of the most common sources of dissatisfaction at work is: the lack of appreciation!

If in our personal life, we can manage more easily this deficiency ( because we allow ourselves to say what is bothering us), at our jobs the problem is a little bit more complicated.

Sounds familiar?
My boss doesn’t see what I do!
My boss is never pleased no matter what I do!
My boss doesn’t understand what I want!
My boss doesn’t understand anything!
My boss never thinks about my needs!
My boss always prefers my colleague instead of me!
My boss has forgotten about my birthday!
Boss, boss, boss!

If this problem would have consequences only on the productivity at work, things would be great. But on most of the times, this frustrations will have effect on the personal life also.

What could we do in order to solve this sensitive problem?

A simple solution could be a direct communication between parts 🙂
( Let’s be honest: who are we to rebuke our superior, after all if he would have been so concerned about ourselves he would ask at least our opinion! )
So, what is there to be done? ( instead of giving up the job ofcourse). Is there any other way?

Luckily there is a solution, one that is much more simple that we may think! This solution starts with establishing the reason behind picking your job!

The reasons for picking a job can vary as following:
For pleasure
Being bored
Needing money
The desire of our parents/partner/friends
Feeling useful
Learning
For self esteem
Being close to someone
Feeling shamed
Etc
( If you have chosen your job in order to have your bosses appreciation, I am sorry to inform you that the following solution is not for you)!
However:
If you have chosen your job for one of the reasons above
If you are dissatisfied because of your boss’s lack of appreciation
The perfect solution for you would be:

To concentrate your maximum power on what you want to obtain from this job, and much less on your manager’s emotional capacities!

Do not forget!

As long as you chosen this job: from pleasure, for needing money or consideration, for self esteem or any other reason, focus on what you wanted in the first place!
You don’t need your boss’s attention
You don’t need your boss’s appreciation
You don’t need your boss’s encouragement
because it’s not the reason for which you have chosen this way!

Many of the people that today are famous for us like: Galileo, Freud, Einstein, Ford, Edison, haven’t seen any encouragement on their way, by the contrary, they encountered many obstacles, but this haven’t stop them at all!

The most powerful ally that we could have on our way through life is: having a steel confidence in us!
If we manage to possess this firm confidence, we won’t need any appreciation:
Neither from our boss
Neither from our friends
Neither from our family
Neither from our society
so we’ll manage to continue on our way, no matter how many obstacles we’ll encounter!

Critical thinking

Aren’t we ( *a little bit ) selfish when we claim our manager ( which knows us only for a couple of months maybe, and whom we know to have many other responsibilities) to be so agile for seeing every small thing that we do well?

Lots of confidence in your own strengths,

LEE
